New Credit Management Course

May 2007

A new course "Key Skills for Credit Managers" will be introduced in the Winter of 2007 that will provide key managerial skills for credit managers and analysts requiring personal development.

Murray Bailey, head of Windsor CME and course leader said "It's difficult for technical risk folk to make the transition into more general management, or communicate in a language that senior management find interesting and useful."

The new course will be 3-days and have a mixture of lectures and practical exercises that will build up a range of skills often needed by credit people.

The skills provided will be:

* Communicating technical points to non-technical people

* Structuring presentations and reports

* Credit problem solving

* Considering alternative solutions

* Making a decision

* Understanding what's important to the credit business

* Analytically, "seeing the wood for the trees"

Murray added "the problem with standard courses in these skills, is that they fail to appreciate the base people are starting from. Credit Risk is a technical subject, requiring technical skills. The challenge is to see the main drivers, make the right decisions and ensure the business is onboard and understands."
